FAKE WEBSITE EMPLOYMENT RACKET CBI FILES CHARGESHEETS AGAINST FOUR ACCUSED
Central Bureau of Investigation has filed two chargesheets against four accused of Delhi, Jharkhand & Uttar Pradesh under various sections of IPC and IT Act for the offences of Criminal Conspiracy, Cheating, Forgery and impersonation through the computer system in the court of CMM, Delhi.
The case was registered during September, 2011 on the complaint received from Ministry of Rural Development, Krishi Bhavan, New Delhi. It was alleged in the complaint that a website (http://gramin-gov.in) had advertised 3000 posts of Project Manager, District Coordinator Officer, Block Coordinator Officer, Panchayat Coordinator Officer, Computer Operator and Guard/Peon asking them to send application with fee @ Rs.350/- from General/OBC and Rs.250/- from SC/ST. The advertisement was floated by an organization based at Rama Park Road Mohan Garden New Delhi. It was also observed that the home page of the website/advertisement contained the National Emblem & an advertisement was floated for appointment of posts, for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA Scheme which was implemented by the Ministry).
During investigation of the case, four persons were arrested and their locations were searched. Incriminating documents were seized from them in the form of computer, laptop, mobile phones, data drives etc. The investigation revealed that the accused operated from two offices located in Delhi during the period from March 2011 to August 2011 and had bank accounts in two banks. They had been instrumental in obtaining the office premises, telephone connections, bank accounts in the fake names after registering their organization as a Trust which had no definite work. A large number of unemployed people based in West Bengal and Jharkhand have been cheated by the accused persons by way of the said modus operandi. They also got the advertisements for the said vacancies published in local newspapers in both the states so that more and more people could be cheated.
The public is reminded that the above findings are based on the investigation done by CBI and evidence collected by it. Under the Indian Law, the accused are presumed to be innocent till their guilt is finally established after a fair trial.
